Young girls should feel like they can accomplish anything they want. That’s why Daugherty Business Solutions hosted a Mobile App Bootcamp, in conjunction with Women in Technology (WIT).

In April, about 20 middle school and high school girls met at our Daugherty office in Atlanta. We brought together Women executives from Delta Air Lines, GPC and Serta Simmons Bedding to serve as experienced mentors and coaches alongside Daugherty Senior Consultants, providing insight into what career opportunities are available in Information Technology.

By the end of the day, the girls understood that they had a place in IT.  They learned that technology is diverse and does not just mean working behind a computer.  They also learned what it means to be a consultant: how to think critically and creatively and collaborate with a team to achieve a common goal.

It was rewarding and heartwarming to see how many of the girls were energized and expressed an eagerness to explore STEM/STEAM opportunities – and that’s what it’s all about.

"For one Saturday, we showed a group of young girls a different side of IT – one they might consider as a future career path – one they might not have considered otherwise"

Daugherty is committed to causes that promote talent development and diversity within the IT field.  Because young girls should feel like they can accomplish anything they want.
